The electronic gate at Peter Prince Airport is now operational, providing reasonable security at the airport.

AMS Aviation, the FBO at Milton's Peter Prince Airport, has received its certification to administer computerized testing for all aviation ratings.  The service is provided through Laser Grade Testing, Inc.,  and examinations may be scheduled by calling Laser Grade, or contacting the FBO directly at 623-4151.  Testing is available for pilot ratings, and also for A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) mechanic's rating.  In  addition, AMS is the only testing center in the area which can administer the IA (Inspection Authorization) mechanic's rating.

Dr. Carlos Diaz, MD, has also received FAA certification as an AME (Aviation Medical Examiner), and has an office at the FBO.  Exams can be conveniently scheduled at the FBO, seven days a week.  This is the only known FBO which can offer this service.  Class II and III medicals may be scheduled by calling Aeromedical Services at 981-3737, or the FBO number.

  Traffic Pattern

There is no control tower at Peter Prince Airport. Standard untowered airport reporting procedures apply.
Runways : 18/36.
Pattern altitude is 900 ft. Field elevation is 81 ft.
Departures:
Runway 18: Climb straight ahead until at least south of Highway 90 (1/4 mile south of the departure end of runway 18) prior to turning on course.
Runway 36: Turn west (left) within 1/4 mile of the departure end of runway 36. Make a downwind departure heading of 180 until at least south of HiWay 90 (1/4 mile south of the departure end of runway 18) prior to turning on-course.
Arrivals:
Runway 18: Maintain right hand traffic on the west side of the airport. Enter downwind south of Hiway 90 (1/4 mile south of the departure end of runway 18). Maintain the downwind leg within 1/2 mile of the runway, and keep the base leg within one mile of the runway.
Runway 36: Enter the pattern from the south of Hiway 90 and make an upwind entry on the east side of the airport. Stay within 1/2 mile of the runway and cross over the north end of the runway for a left-hand downwind for runway 36.

General Information

Close traffic pattern and strict adherence to the pattern important. The airport airspace is a one mile cutout of NAS Whiting Field's class C airspace, which starts at the surface. NAS Whiting monitors for violation of its airspace.
PAPI (left side both 18 & 36) will give adequate clearance of obstacles.
Expect turbulence below tree line, on landing 18 & 36, with moderate to strong east or west wind component (especially east).
Be particularly aware of R-2915A &B. Flying just north of Highway 90 between Milton and Crestview will clear them. Do not fly over or south of Interstate 10.
Displaced threshold, landing 36; not in effect at this time.
Fuel and FBO located midfield, west side of main ramp. AIR BP 100LL.

Communications

To contact Pensacola Approach via the Peter Prince Ground Communications Outlet radio telephone link while on the ground to obtain or cancel an IFR flight plan, or to contact Pensacola Regional ASOS :

    Tune your radio to 121.725.

To contact Pensacola Approach, click your mike four times. Each click should be
    one second long.

The GCO will answer with the number of clicks you have made. (After the first
click you will get one beep; after the second click, two beeps, etc. After five
clicks you get a dash, after six  dash dot, etc.

To contact ASOS, click your mike six times.

The GCO will then dial the appropriate number. You will hear it dialing.

When the briefer answers just communicate your needs via the radio.

The total time for a transaction is set for a maximum time limit of ten minutes.

If there is no voice activity over the system for 30 seconds (told to "standby",
etc.) a beep will occur. Key your mike within 15 seconds and that will get an
extra 30 seconds of "no voice" time.

If the system does not respond at first try repositioning your aircraft for a clear
path to the antenna on the terminal building.
