Safety Committee Report
PROGRESS:
1. Brewton hasreceived their license to operate on
a less congested ( 122.725 ) Unicomfrequency.
They have also applied for a license for their recently installed AWOS.
2. The new frequency ( 122.975 ) at Peter Prince is working well and pilots are
expressing their appreciation for a frequency not duplicated within 120nm.
3. The Class C advisory signs weathered the hurricane without damage.
4. After several months of inaction by other parties on the much needed 2R4
Airport Facility Directory changes, the Flight Watch Safety Committee delivered documents to
county staff with the necessary info to notify
the National Charting Office. Some
of the changes were reflected in the March 17-th edition. Documents were also
provided to update the the Florida Airport Facility Directory. The Safety
Committee will follow up to see that all important changes are made.
5. The Superunicom component required for repair has been installed and the
unit was functioning as
of Jan. 28. The runway lights are on a photocell with the new Unicom
frequency.

6.
The county is working on the
installation of the automated security gate at Peter Prince. We
will advise when this is
completed and furnish details on the operation of the gate.
IN THE MILL.
1. The VASI/PAPI proposal has been discussed with two levels in the FAA. At
their suggestion it is now in the hands of local FAA
folks. We may have to go to Jeff Miller's office with this
one. Will keep you informed of any developments.
