NAVAL AIR STATION PENSACOLA Naval Air Station Pensacola has a long and distinguished history of service to the Navy in general and to Naval Aviation in particular. It is located approximately ten miles southwest of Pensacola Regional Airport. Click on the History button on the left to read about the aviation history of the Pensacola area. NAS Pensacola hosts the world renowned National Museum of Naval Aviation.
The 1980's photograph below shows NAS Pensacola's Forrest Sherman Field as viewed from the west. The training carrier USS Lexington, the Gulf Breeze peninsula, and Santa Rosa Island can be seen in the upper right. The city of Pensacola and the Garcon Point peninsula appear in the upper left.
