Coastal Airport was built by Mr. Abner Schuel and his brother Ross (who was a Navy pilot) in the late 1950’s as a privately owned, public use airport. It was originally called the Five Star Airport. Mr. Shuel operated the airport himself for several years, then leased it to to The Airplane Company, owned by Mssrs. Changler Knowles, Chad Howe and Wayne Spencer. Sometime later, the airport was leased by Mr. Jim Canty and a partner. Following their tenure, in 1979, Mssrs. Davis Glass and Dan McConnell leased it. In 1991, Mr. McConnell dropped out of the partnership, and Mr. Glass operated the airport until 1993. Upon the death of Abner Shuel in 1992, Ms. Peggy Enslow purchased the airport, and managed it for several years.

In 1998, Mr. Anthony Fiorentino purchased the airport, and has proceeded to upgrade it. More hangars are planned, and consideration is being given to fuel and maintenance services in the future.
