"FLY FRIENDLY" At Pensacola Regional Airport, Florida The general aviation pilot's access to airports across our nation is being eliminated or reduced. General aviation pilot landing rights are being taken away, their hours of operation are being restricted, and in the worst case our airports are being closed. There are many causes, but one of the most visible irritants and often-used excuses for restricting your flying is noise. Protect our access to Pensacola Regional Airport by flying smart and using voluntary noise abatement procedures.
To keep it simple, the higher you are. the lower the power setting, and the further the distance from the surrounding homes-----THE LOWER THE NOISE!!!
RECOMMENDED VOLUNTARY NOISE ABATEMENT AT PENSACOLA REGIONAL AIRPORT Unless otherwise directed by ATC or limited by aircraft flight manual and/or safety considerations, the use of the following voluntary procedures are recommended in order to lower the decibel level perceived by surrounding home dwellers. 1. Use Runway 08/26 for departure when conditions permit. 2. Use the full Length of the runway for takeoff. 3. Climb on the runway heading to at least the airport boundary. On Runway 8, delay your turn until reaching the bay. 4. Make initial turn at or above 700 Ft. MSL. 5. Climb at "Best Rate of Climb" airspeed to at least 1121 Ft. MSL. 6. Fly pattern at 1121 Ft. MSL 7. Fly normal or higher glidepath: "Do not drag it in." 8. Touch-and-go landings: Land in the first third of the runway.
HELPFUL TECHNIQUES FOR AIRPLANES WITH CONSTANT SPEED PROPELLERS 1. Reduce power settings to recommended climb setting as soon as possible after takeoff. 2. Delay the use of high RPM settings until close in final. 3. Keep the propellers synchronized, especially immediately after takeoff.
